Day 1: Nairobi – Chogoria – Lake Ellis

Drive from Nairobi to Chogoria Gate and begin trekking through forests, Nithi Falls, and Mugi Hills to Lake Ellis for overnight stay.

  • Morning Pick up in Nairobi and drive to Chogoria Gate (2950m ASL).
  • Trek through giant heather and forest, cross streams, visit Nithi Falls, caves, and The Gate Gorges.
  • Afternoon Continue trekking via Mugi Hills to Lake Ellis (3470m ASL).
  • Briefing and debriefing at camp.
  • Meal Plan: Lunch & Dinner; overnight at Lake Ellis.

Day 2: Lake Ellis to Mintos Camp

Trek along a ridge to join the Chogoria tourist track, continuing to Mintos Camp for acclimatization and optional short walks.

  • Morning After breakfast, trek ridge for ~3 hours to tourist track (~4100m), enjoy panoramic views.
  • Midday Lunch at tourist track, continue to Mintos Hut area (4200m).
  • Afternoon Relax at camp; optional 10-minute walk to Hall Tarns & the "Temple" cliff.
  • Briefing and debriefing at camp.
  • Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner; overnight at Mintos Camp.

Day 3: Lake Ellis – Point Lenana – Lake Michaelson

Predawn summit attempt to Point Lenana, then descend to Lake Michaelson for trekking around the lake and optional cave visit.

  • 03:00 AM Predawn hike to Point Lenana (4985m) to catch sunrise.
  • Morning Descend to Lake Michaelson for breakfast.
  • Trek around Lake Michaelson and visit Temple’s cave; optional fishing (requires license).
  • Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner; overnight at Lake Michaelson.

Day 4: Lake Michaelson – Chogoria Gate – Nairobi

Descend from Lake Michaelson to Chogoria Gate and return to Nairobi.

  • Morning Breakfast at Lake Michaelson and start descent.
  • Midday Lunch en route, continue descent to Chogoria Gate.
  • Connect with transport back to Nairobi.
  • Meal Plan: Breakfast & Lunch.
